Trifecta Concert Weekend

U2 Joshua Tree Fri 09.22.17 Qualcomm Stadium, San Diego CA

This iconic band played for a couple of hours and the stage and screen graphics were very cool. I missed the original Joshua Tree tour in 1987. So glad they rebooted this album tour. I just couldn’t miss it this time. Took some pics but, they are not worthy of posting.

Blue Oyster Cult Sat 09.23.17 The Cave, Big Bear Lake CA

By FAR my FAVORITE venue. Intimate, friendly and cool staff. This was our first time at The Cave. We have since returned several times and will continue to do so. The best thing about this venue is that the bands do not play to the album. After playing Buck’s Boogie for 20 minutes they launched into Godzilla for another 20 minutes and then rocked it out with Last Days of May for another 20. You can just tell they love playing here. One very out of focus crappy phone pic.

We stay at The Lodge at Big Bear Lake. It is just across the street and down a couple of blocks. We like to walk home after drinking. The brisk winter weather is just what we need. They have a restaurant onsite for the requisite hangover breakfast or if we stay the weekend, hair of the dog. The town is quaint with lots of food options and shops to browse.

George Thorogood and Foghat Sun 09.24.17 Viejas Casino & Resort Concerts in the Park, Alpine CA

Worst venue ever. Not a park at all, it's concrete between the two hotel towers with folding plastic chairs. The only food Inside the concert area is a hot dog stand. It was a joke. The only way I would ever see a concert there again, is if Janis came back and played there. The crappy venue made it difficult to enjoy the concert. Looking for George to come back so we can see him again somewhere else. He rocks the stage. I loved seeing him strut across the stage jamming out. He was happy and smiling and then afterwards came back out and shook everyone’s hand in the front. Of course Foghat was good too. It was good to hear the their music bringing back memories. Although Roger Earl as the only original member it just felt a little different.
